Brad Hamer
Compliance and NEPA Lead
Brad has been performing and managing projects related to environmental impact analysis for over 30 years. A majority of his work during this time has been in the area of NEPA Environmental Assessments and Categorical Exclusions. His NEPA-related projects have primarily been focused on infrastructure, including environmental clearance of numerous road and bridge projects on behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and water and wastewater system projects on behalf of municipalities and purveyors receiving funding from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB). He is familiar with the requirements of the environmental review and clearance processes of both of these agencies, as well as the NEPA process in general. With his personal interest in the science of chemistry, educational background in biochemistry, and early-career experience in hazardous waste site investigation and remediation, he has managed and self-performed all projects related to hazardous materials concerns in ERG’s Austin office from its founding. He has also assisted in a variety of natural resource field investigations in Texas and New Mexico.
Professional Highlights
A transportation project involving complex hazardous materials concerns that Brad managed was used for TxDOT’s in-house testing and training on the original version of its Hazardous Materials Initial Site Assessment prior to the form’s introduction to the public, and was later presented as a case study at TxDOT’s annual Environmental Conference.
Performed initial scouting and led a sampling team as part of a three-day, round-the-clock sample collection effort studying water quality in the Colorado River from Austin to the Gulf Coast.
Conducted surveys of bald eagles and prairie dogs at McGregor Range in New Mexico.
“Entertaining” my family by pointing out every road, property, and feature for which I’ve done environmental work whenever we drive by, every time, which they clearly love.
