Sunshine Thomas

Texas and Arkansas Lead

With more than two decades of experience in North American pre‑ and postcontact archaeology, Dr. Sunshine Thomas is a Secretary of the Interior–qualified archaeologist whose work spans the Southern Plains and Southeastern United States. A seasoned leader in cultural resource management, she brings deep expertise in project management, compliance review, site planning, and underwater site excavation, supported by extensive coordination with federal, municipal, and private agencies. Her background includes holding ARPA and state permits in Oklahoma, Texas, and Florida, guiding projects that require close collaboration with state and federal offices.

Since joining ERG, Dr. Thomas has been a driving force behind cultural resource project delivery across Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. She manages large federally funded surveys, directs transportation and infrastructure projects, and provides rigorous QA/QC for cultural resource reporting and standards compliance. Her leadership strengthens ERG’s ability to support federal clients through systematic field investigations, built environment documentation, and stakeholder coordination, including consultation on behalf of federal agencies. Through her commitment to regulatory excellence and collaborative engagement, Dr. Thomas ensures that every project advances ERG’s mission while meeting the highest standards of cultural and environmental stewardship.
